English: Role-reversal in advertising: in this 1949 confectionery advertisement, it's the young heroine who saves the infant (and the puppy) from the onrushing fire-engine. While postwar comic books usually upheld traditional gender stereotypes, there were frequent exceptions depicting girls as brave, courageous and resourceful - possibly a nod to the vital role women played in the war effort just a few years previously.
