Description
English: "Pepper Kala", as it is called, is basically made of ordinary flour. Salt and yeast are the only additives (in small amounts). Pepper Kala is common to Liberia and is a cuisine prepared by females. Interestingly, a few women has used the sale of this food as a business dependent on for survival and livelihood. It is usually prepared and sold in the mornings and evening times. In Liberia, about 98% of Liberian students have experienced the great taste of Pepper Kala. Often, most consumers are people who can not afford expensive meals. yet, for students, eating and sharing of Pepper Kala is an indelible experience they cherish. Pepper Kala's preparation is concluded by frying the mixture of flour, yeast and salt. It is consumed with a separately prepared pepper stew. Usually, the pepper is made of mere salt and cube. There are few Liberian women who used the sale of Pepper Kala to support their children through high school and college, and a lot of them has become successful.
