Summary[edit]

Description
English:
World War I memorial name panel (2008) on south facade. Christ the King church in Barcs. Foundation stone 1814. In 1816 the former wooden church burned down. In 1819 started to use (the probably incompleted) church. Chronogram on the facade refer to this. The church tower completed in 1821 when the church sacrified. The builder/donor, Count Ferenc Széchenyi chief ispán of Somogy County, royal commissioner of Drava regulation, died in 1820. Mission cross and plaques are on its facade. Interesting, the double cross on the roof ended with a Sun. The main altarpiece removed and changed to a Christ the King statue in the 1940s. In between 1954 and 1973 inside repainted/restored and at this time made the frescoes of the Hungarian saints by László Maróti local art teacher (his tomb is in the Béke Street cemetery) - Hősök Square, Barcs, Somogy County, Hungary.
