Summary

DescriptionPhanfone 2014-10-03 IR.png	English: Typhoon Phanfone is 650 miles south of the Japanese mainland and heading on a course that will eventually place it just off the coast by October 5-6, 2014, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. This image taken with the high resolution infrared channel on the Suomi NPP satellite shows the deep convective core of the storm, generating sustained winds of 125 mph. Weakening is expected as the storm turns northeast and moves off the coast.
