English: Hopelessly surrounded and outgunned, Somali pirates surrender to HMS Cumberland's Royal Marines boarding team in the Gulf of Aden.
During a deployment to the Gulf of Aden the Type 22 frigate HMS Cumberland contributed significantly to the international effort to combat piracy off the coast of Somalia, Africa. The ship interdicted four pirate vessels, seizing 20 assault rifles, 3 rocket-propelled grenade launchers and pistols, whilst confiscating and subsequently sinking their small boats or skiffs by gunfire.
