English: Steyr Model 1912 semi-automatic pistol and holster, WW1 Steyr-Hahn semi-automatic pistol; 9mm calibre; top-loading by 8 round clip; weight approx 33 oz; 5 inch barrel; wooden pistol grips with chequering; lanyard loop; comes with holster, ammunition clip; and 5 rounds of deactivated ammunition, each round struck and projectile replaced missing- firing pin and spring holster- brown leather holster with flap; two spare stripper clip pockets under flap on front side; sewn repairs to belt loop; maker's stamp by pocket, top left under flap; handwritten name underside of flap (illegible) markings- serial number on left hand side of slide below ejector port and on body at top of trigger- 6573 on rear body above pistol grip, base of holding opening device, left rear of slide, on left spur of hammer, and on magazine plate- K left rear of slide- S; STEYR 1916 on right hand side of body, adjacent to top of trigger- manufacturer's and proof marks clip marked in circle at centre rear- S.B base of round marked- V1; SB; 1916 maker- Österreichische Waffenfabrik Steyr, Austria, circa 1916 (1912-1919)

Notes

Steyr Model 1912 automatic pistol and holster, WW1 Donor was possibly plumber Gordon Menzies who enlisted with the Auckland Infantry Battalion, A Company and embarked with the 14th Reinforcements, 23rd June 1917. His service record indicates that his mother lived in Onehunga at the time of his enlistment. He died in Auckland circa 1971.
