Español: LA TIERRA SEGÚN PLINIO.

El escritor romano Plinio “El Viejo” (23 d.C – 79 d.C.) describe el perímetro de la Tierra como se cuantificaba en aquella época y según sus predecesores Eratóstenes de Cirene e Hiparco de Nicea (Rodas).

Un estadio atico (griego) correspondía a 184,92 metros de longitud y según Eratóstenes de Cirene la circunvalación universal (de la Tierra) era igual a 252.000 estadios o 46.599,84 kms.

Hiparco de Rodas calculaba 26.000 estadios menos que Eratóstenes de Cirene, es decir 226.000 estadios o bien 41.791,92 kms., cifra que supera al valor actual por 1.716,88 kms. siendo hoy el perímetro terreste aceptado de 40.075,03 kms. con un radio ecuatorial de 6.378,14 kms.
