Português: Situada a leste da vila de Almodôvar e construída sobre a ribeira de Cobres em data desconhecida na Idade Média (séculos XII ou XIII), a ponte tem 25 metros de comprimento, onde se desenvolvem três arcos de volta perfeita, de arquitectura românica.
É provável que neste local tenha existido anteriormente uma ponte de origem romana, revelando a importância de Almodôvar como local estratégico nas vias que ligavam Beja ao Algarve. Segundo textos antigos, a ponte já existia em 1375, tal como o Poço de Sacoto que lhe fica contíguo, tendo este cumprido uma função de abastecimento público de água aos homens e animais que por aqui passavam. A ponte foi recuperada em 1973, após ter sido danificada por temporais. English: Located to the east of the village of Almodôvar and built on the Ribeira de Cobres on an unknown date in the Middle Ages (12th or 13th centuries), the bridge is 25 meters long, where three perfect turn arches of Romanesque architecture are developed.
It is likely that in this place there was previously a bridge of Roman origin, revealing the importance of Almodôvar as a strategic place on the roads that connected Beja to the Algarve. According to ancient texts, the bridge already existed in 1375, just like the Poço de Sacoto that is contiguous to it, which fulfilled a function of public supply of water to the men and animals who passed through here. The bridge was rebuilt in 1973, after being damaged by storms. |
