Description
English: A complete post-Medieval silver bodkin (c. 1600-c. 1700). Treasure case no 2017 T315.

This slightly worn bodkin appears to have been deliberately bent into a 'U' shape and is largely rectangular in cross-section. One end has a perforation or slot which is piriform (pear-shaped). The opposite end has an elongated acorn knop. There are numerous accidental scratch marks and there is no indication that the object was gilded.

37.2mm (length); c. 71.0mm (length if straightened); 3.4mm (width); 1.8mm (thickness). Weight: 2.59g.

Compare with a similar object from Buckinghamshire (Treasure: 2008 T431; PAS: LON-859896.
