Post-medieval clasp
Description
English: A complete, copper alloy, heart-shaped clasp from a shoe, dating to the post-medieval period (c. AD 1500-1800). This is one element of a two-part shoe fastening. It has three distinctive rectangular openings cut into the surface running across its widest part. The piece is slightly curved in section. Both surfaces are corroded. This element of the fastening was known as the hasp and would have taken the hooked piece known as the clasp.

Length 25.5mm, width 25.9mm, thickness 0.6mm, weight 2.85g.
