Title
Post-medieval double-looped asymmetrical buckle frame
Description
English: A corroded cast copper-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle frame of asymmetrical form. One loop is trapezoidal while the other is D-shaped. The pin bar features orange staining around its centre, suggesting that the pin, now missing, was made of iron. The reverse is flat; the upper surface is bevelled externally. Viewed in profile the oval loop has been bent upwards: it is uncertain whether this was as a result of old damage or was an common effect of use. Such buckles tend to be attributed a 17th-century date (see Whitehead 1996, 91). This artefact has corroded to a red-brown colour with some areas of green corrosion product.
