Title |
Post-medieval glass bead (plan) |
||
Description |
English: Fragment of glass bead with seven layers of alternating glass and paste decoration in star-like shape in paste in plan and blue glass chevrons or lozenges in profile. This type of layered bead in this chevron pattern was first made in the late Medieval period in Venice, but then became popular in Africa and were manufactured until the end of the 19th century. The beads with seven layers like this one are supposed to be older, but still Post-medieval in date. |
