Title
Post-medieval spoon
Description
English: An incomplete, copper alloy spoon dating to the post-medieval period, c. AD 1750-1900. The object is a seed drill spoon, comprising a hemispherical bowl and a slightly tapered stem which is round in section, and broken at the end. This end would have been attached to a drum with a number of other similar spoons which when rotated, would scoop seeds from the hopper. It represents an early stage in the mechanisation of agriculture and is a class of artefact often misidentified as pharmaceutical in usage.

Length 27.9mm, width 17.6mm, thickness 8.4mm, weight 12.4g. Cf. <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/954702">LIN-51DC43</a>.
