Title |
Post Medieval: Cufflink |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete Post Medieval / early modern (probable 18th century) silver cufflink. The extant cufflink is one part of a single cufflink or cufflink element / disc. It consists of a single pressed silver octagonal disc which is missing its soldered D shaped attachment loop / staple on the reverse. The hoop would have originally been linked by an elongated oval silver wire loop which would have been threaded through the attachment hoops. The front disc of the link is slightly domed with turned down edges and a concave reverse. The design on the front face is a that of a stylised flower with six petals. It is contained within an octagonal border formed from eight conjoined arches. No maker's marks are visible.
The cufflink element measures 12.2mm length, 12.4mm wide, is 2.1mm thick, and weighs 0.6 grams. |
