Post Medieval: Ring
Description
English: Cast copper alloy ring of probable Roman - Modern date (50 - 1800). The ring is broadly circular in plan (with faceted edges( and rectangular in cross section. There is no obvious cast or incised decoration present. The external surface is slight grey in places and this may suggest that it is tinned. The ring is an abraded green colour with a poorly preserved patina that covers all surfaces. The patination of the metal would suggest a medieval or later date. The function of the ring is varied; it is worn, a direct use cannot be attributed.

The ring measures 26.6mm in diameter, the frame is 4.2mm wide, and is 2.5mm thick. The internal diameter is 18.0mm. The ring weighs 4.38 grams.
