Title |
Post Medieval buckle frame |
||
Description |
English: Post Medieval cast copper-alloy double-loop buckle frame with slightly trapizoid loops. One loop is complete but only 10% of the other remains; the rest is lost to an old break. The loops are rectangular in cross section. It has flat, trefoil projections at the corners and bilobed knops in the centre of the outer edge and at the ends of the strap bars. The front is stamped around all sides and in the corner projections with over lapping ring and dot stamps. The pin is missing. It is 24.5mm long, 29.6mm wide and 1.9mm thick; it weighs 3.74 grams.
Whitehead (2003: 79) illustrates a very similar frame, no.488, without the stamped decoration, which he dates to c.1600-1700 AD. |
