Description
English:
Post Medieval sword belt hanger, comprising an elaborate cast plate with shaped sides, trefoil terminals and incised foliate decoration on face. Three rivet-holes (one in centre and one at both ends) containing corrosion. Three integral loops project from the lower edge in same plane, all contain a pendant leaf with open hooked loop with globular point and trefoil terminal, matching foliate decoration on face,and pierced by two rivet-holes containing iron corrosion. Bar with integral loops: width 69.5mm, length/height 30mm. Leaves: width 22mm, length/height 50mm. Combined height 72mm. Weighs 44.98g. Cf. Read (2001), fig. 26, no. 373. Later 16th-17th century.
