Title
Post medieval bawdy figurine
Description
English: A cast, lead-alloy, erotic or bawdy figurine depicting a male and a female figure coupling. The head of the underneath figure is missing. There is no obvious break, and the stub of the neck is patinated, so it is possible that the figurine was mis-cast and discarded. A thick bar of lead is attached to the base of the couple which may be the sprue which it has not been worthwhile trimming off. It is 38.8mm long, 24.8mm wide, and 10.9mm thick. It weighs 52.96gm. Objects of this nature are mostly from the 18th century. Pipe Tampers often have this sort of design and there are several recorded on the database. The slightly more naturalistic pose of these figures may suggest a slightly later date.
