Post medieval copper alloy pipe tamper
Description
English: Post medieval copper alloy signet ring pipe tamper, 48mm long, 23mm wide and weighs 62gms. The object consists of a bronze ring which has a circular bezel incorporating the initials WD with incised stars and crescents above and below. Opposite the bezel is a small hexagonal? shaft which widens gently and terminates in a stepped circular plate which forms the tamper. This style of object dates to the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
