Post medieval cufflink
Description
English: Post-medieval silver cufflink consisting of two discs with downturned edges, joined by an ovoid wire link engaged with a loop soldered to the reverse of each. The front of both discs is decorated in counter-relief with a heart surmounted by a flame and transfixed by a pair of crossed arrows. This device is commonly found on 17th-century cufflinks (S. Thornton in Treasure Annual Report 2005/6, 139 no.615). Cufflinks began to become popular in c.1675 (Read 2005, 98). Diameter 12mm. Weight 1.38g. Late 17th - early 18th century.
