Title
Post medieval spoon terminal
Description
English: The terminal of a spoon stem, cast in copper alloy. It is flat and rectangular in section with a widened three-lobed 'trefid' terminal. The 'trefid' feature gives it a likely date of late-17th century. It has punched initials, I.S. just below the terminal on one side; these have been done using separate dies, suggesting they were added post manufacture for the owner rather than as a makers mark. It has a mid grey-green parinta suggesting a high tin content. It is 46.5 mm long, 27.4mm wide and 1.6mm thick. It weighs 7.75 grams.
