Title
Powst-Medieval or Later Tobacco Jar Lid from Tetney
Description
English: Lead alloy with white metal plating

Perfume Bottle lid. Cast knob in the form of a cushion crown, set over a lightly concavo-convex plate of thickness 1.4mm with provision for attachment on the back comprising a central aperture of diameter 4mm and depth 8mm and four tiny equidistant studs or knops of diameter 1.2mm. The upper face of the plate is decorated concentrically, with (described from the outer edge) an outer billeted rim, a gutter defined by paired ridges, and a circumferential series of interlocking circles. The upper face of the plate and the crown-shaped knob are silvered or tinned.

A commemorative function is possible given the chosen motif. Radoslaw Zarzycki kindly corrected an initial identification by this reporter, as follows: 'This is top part of a perfume flaskcork plug c.1800-1850; cf internet references to George Dralle antique perfume bottles and plugs'. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1850.

Diameter: 21.7mm, Height: 16.0mm, Weight: 9.63gms.
