Summary
[edit]DescriptionPrince Philip and Princess Sophie laying a wreath at Yad Vashem - 1994.jpg |
English: Prince Philip - husband of Queen Elizabeth II - and his sister Princess Sophie laying a wreath at Yad Vashem, October 31 1994. The title of Righteous Among the Nations was conferred upon their late mother, princess Alice. Alice saved the lives of the Cohen family in Athens. Philip declared at the ceremony that in fact what his mother did was only natural: "I suspect that she never thought of it as something special. He was a person with deep religious faith and she would have considered it to be a totally natural human action to fellow human beings in distress.
