Title |
Probably wall sherd of a Roman fine ware vessel |
||
Description |
English: Small wall sherd of a vessel dating from the later Roman period, i.e. c. AD200-410. This is a small piece of local greyware/fine ware showing either rusticated decoration or possibly barbotine decoration. The vessel was made on the potter's wheel. It was made from fine light-grey earthenware that was decorated with a wavy pattern on the outside before a dark grey or black slip was applied. |
