Pusarke festival — "Remosam" (2021 documentary)

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A short clip from the 2019 documentary Remosam, directed by Subhashish Panigrahi, features a conversation primarily in Bonda, an Indigenous language spoken in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, and, to some extent, in Desia, a dialect of the Odia language. The conversation revolves around the Pusarke festival of the Bonda people, where two individuals, both named Buda Dhangdamajhi, engage in discussion in response to questions from Gobardhan Panda, an Odia speaker who is fluent in Bonda. In this clip, the three men primarily discuss how meats and vegetables are procured for offerings to ancestors as part of the festival celebrations and rituals. While the older Dhangdamajhi is seen onscreen, the younger one's voice is audible throughout the conversation. Both men belong to the Upper Bonda community of Mudulipada, Malkangiri district, Odisha. Panda serves as the lead interviewer and researcher of the film. Remosam was produced with a grant from the National Geographic Society between 2017-2019 and was released in 2019.
