Image title | This is a composite of two images of the total solar eclipse on March 29, 2006 taken abord the sailing vessel Pan Orama along the path of totality SE of Rhodes.
Both were taken with a Nikon D70s equipped with a 500mm f/8 reflector telephoto lens. The partial phase picture was made through a black polymer solar filter from Thousand Oaks Optical. The corona was shot without any filters. Remember that photography of the sun is dangerous without the proper filters! The images were lightly adjusted for exposure in Adobe Lightroom (beta 4) and composited in Photoshop CS2. Since the orignal exposures were hand-held, the images were centered by eye. Partial Phase: D70s, 500mm, f/8, 1/320 s, ISO 800, black polymer solar filter Corona at Totality: D70s, 500mm, f/8, 1/50 s, ISO 800 |
