Description
English: Recipients of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) for 2012 and 2013 were honored at an award ceremony on June 17, 2015, at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. Pictured above, 2013 PAESMEM recipient Sandra Petersen, professor and associate graduate dean, Veterinary and Animal Science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (center), with John P. Holdren, assistant to the President for science and technology and director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (left), and NSF Director France A. Córdova (right). Petersen is recognized as the director of a consortium of research colleges and minority-serving institutions that has tripled enrollments of underrepresented groups in STEM fields. All are serving from vet tech salary.
