English: Recommends the supply of twelve of "Irwin's Union Camp Cots" to every regiment in the Western Department, includes a description of the cots, which would serve the purpose of stretchers.
Transcription: Office of the Sanitary Comm. S Louis. Sept. 20. 1861 The Sanitary Commission respectfully recommend that Twelve of “Irwin’s Union Camp Cots” be immediately supplied to every Regiment in the Western Department. These “cots” are made with straps, and serve the purpose of stretchers. They weigh but twenty pounds, and cost $3.75 each, and are intended for camp use, for the sick & wounded. James E Yeatman Presdt Sanitary Comm Requisition approved and actg. Asst. Dept. Mr. [Master] Genl McKinstry will have it filled. J. C. Fremont Maj Genl Camp
