• Because of the seller dating this as 1924, searches for original copyright in artwork were done for the years 1923 and 1924. Despite Underwood & Underwood's notation of the photo being copyrighted, the search turned up no photos of Harold "Red" Grange being registered in either 1923 or 1924. Other photos by the company were listed as being registered, but not this one.

• Renewal searches were done in artwork for the years 1950, 1951 and 1952; there were no listings for "Underwood". There's no evidence of original copyright as per original registration searches.
