English: U.S. Marine helicopter pulls astronaut Virgil Grissom from the sea after splashdown at the completion of the MR-4 mission. The spacecraft, Liberty Bell 7, was lost in the sea. The MR-4 mission was the second manned suborbital flight. The helicopter on the left is a Sikorsky HUS-1 Seahorse of Marine medium transport squadron HMR(L)-262 Det. Flying Tigers, on the right is a US Navy Sikorsky HSS-1N Seabat of helicopter anti-submarine squadron HS-7 Big Dippers, both assigned to Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 58 (CVSG-58) aboard the recovery ship USS Randolph (CVS-15). |
