English: Cased Beaumont Adams revolver, circa 1850s double action percussion revolver- five-shot; .450 inch calibre, 54 bore; with captive ramrod; safety side catch; hexagonal barrel; blued body and barrel; chequered wooden one-piece grip; in wooden case with accessories case- wooden with green baize lining; seven compartments for revolver and accessories; round brass escutcheon on top of lid; chip in wood at front right; right compartment partition loose accessories- percussion cap tin (Eley, London), brass powder flask, nipple wrench, brass bullet mould, cleaning rod, pewter oil bottle, three ball and two shaped rounds percussion cap tin- empty tin; embossed on lid- ELEY - LONDON powder flask- copper and brass; adjustable powder measurement of 3-4, 5-8, and 1-2 drams; marked- DRAMS nipple wrench- wooden handle; steel fitting bullet mould- brass and steel; two different shaped moulds; swivelling plate; marked by front hinge- 54 cleaning rod- brass jag on end with thread and notches; wooden handle oil bottle- pewter cylindrical screwtop oil bottle with steel spoon markings- on right hand side serial number- B10341 - ADAMS PATENT No 26004. R maker or retailer's name stamped on top of barrel- EDWARDS and SONS. Notes

Cased Beaumont Adams revolver, circa 1850s manufacturer Edward and Sons, UK, circa 1850s. This revolver was referred to as the Beaumont Adams as it incorporated the double action lock mechanism improvements of Lt. F.B.E. Beaumont of the Royal Engineers. It was adopted in the British Army as a General Service revolver, circa 1856. Many were privately purchased by Army officers, and would have been in use in New Zealand. The specific history of this weapon is not known.
