Photo of a convention goer's pin from the 1936 Rexall Drug traveling convention. The Depression meant that many druggists would not be able to afford traveling to and from a centrally-held convention. Rexall Drug's owner had the idea of bringing the convention to the druggists. The company chartered a locomotive and cars from the New York Central Railroad (the Rexall Train), which was specially painted for the drug company. The train traveled the US and parts of Canada--everywhere there were Rexall drugstores during the year of 1936. Those attending the comvention when it was in their area got the pictured train badge with their name and home town on it. |
