"Il dipinto ritrae una figura femminile identificata negli inventari in modo errato e contraddittorio pertanto non è stato riconosciuto in tutta la serie dei registri storici del castello. La donna raffigurata presenta un manto di ermellino, per cui si presume che si tratti di una sovrana di Casa Savoia ed in effetti si è notata una certa somiglianza con le raffigurazioni di Anna Maria d'Orléans (1684-1728), figlia di Filippo d'Orléans (fratello di Luigi XIV), andata in moglie a Vittorio Amedeo II nel 1684 (cfr. Gabrielli N. "Racconigi", Torino 1972, p. 202). La tela proposta come confronto si trova in Palazzo Reale ed è stata pubblicata anche nel catalogo della mostra "Royales effiges" di Chambéry 1985-1986, p. 25. Se non proprio la suddetta si ritiene che la tela raffiguri una principessa di Casa Savoia vissuta negli anni a cavallo tra la fine del Seicento e l'inizio del Settecento e che l'autore possa essere di cultura francese"
