Roman Aesica crescent type brooch
Description
English: Copper alloy 'Aesica crescent' type brooch. Missing spring, pin, crescent; damaged catchplate. Decorative detail very similar to Hattatt no. 287 (Farley Heath, Surrey). Central rivet hole for crescent. Width 18mm, length 29.5mm. Also similarities to example from Brandon (BRD 081) - but both comparisons differ in the upper profile having a central rib linking to the rear hook.
