Title
Roman Samian Ware Vessel
Description
English: A rim sherd from an early Roman Samian ware Dragondorff form 37 decorated vessel. The rim has an external bead, below which is a plain band (the fact this is fairly narrow suggests a 1st century date) and below this is ovolo (egg-and-tongue) decoration. Very little of the decoration below the ovolo survives. The curvature suggests a rim diameter of 15cm.
