Roman Steelyard Weight |
||
Description |
English: A cast lead steelyard weight of probable Roman date. The weight is biconical (diameter 23mm, height 20.5mm) with a central shaft which contains a thin length of copper alloy. This would have been bent to form a hook at the apex, although the hook survives only to a length of about 10mm and is now bent out of shape.
