Title
Roman Steelyard Weight
Description
English: An incomplete cast lead steelyard weight of Roman date (AD 43 – AD 410). Length: 31.3mm; maximum diameter: 27.2mm. Weight: 78.73g.

The weight is bi-conical in form and has a large deposit of iron corrosion at the apex. This corrosion is probably the remains of an iron suspension loop. The surfaces are pitted and damaged overall.

A grey/buff patina covers all the pitting and damaged areas.
