Roman Steelyard Weight
Description
English: Lead and iron steelyard weight. Cast biconical weight with ferrous corrosion at its apex marking the stub of an iron suspension loop. Patinated overall. The mass is close to one half of a Roman libra or the equivalent averdepois pound, though the function of the weight when used as a poise did not require it to match the units of a particular system of measurement. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410 AD.

Diameter: 43.3mm, Height: 39.2mm, Weight: c.260gms.
