Title
Roman coin: possible sestertius of Claudius, reverse
Description
English: A complete Roman copper-alloy sestertius, dating to the first or second century AD, possibly of Claudius (AD 41-54), Reece period 2. No detail is legible due to wear and corrosion, but the reverse appears to have a standing figure, possibly Spes. Diameter: 33.07mm. Thickness: 4.09mm. Weight: 17.59g. For possible coin, see RIC I, pp. 128 & 130, nos. 99 & 115. Given that this coin was found in close proximity to three other coins of Claudius, this identification is plausible.
