English: A complete Roman copper-alloy sestertius of Claudius (AD 41-54). Possible mint of Rome (Moorhead S. 2013). Reece period 2. Obverse description: Bust facing right, laureate. Obverse inscription illegible due to wear and corrosion. No countermark visible. Reverse inscription: EX S C / OB / CIVES / SERVATOS in four lines within an oak wreath. RIC 96 or 112, Cohen 39, BMC 115 or 185. Diameter: 34.12mm. Thickness: 7.09mm. Weight: 20.49g. |
