Title
Roman copper alloy dolphin brooch
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy Dolphin brooch, dating from the Roman period. The brooch is missing one of its semi-cylindrical wings and its spring and pin as well. The distinct shape of this particular brooch distinguishes itself as a dolphin type brooch, due to the shape of the brooches bowhead being arched in profile at roughly 90 degress angle and then protrudes downwards. The pin-plate is rather worn, with only a hint of the plate protruding from the underneath of the bowheads tail. The decorative design of the brooch is linear, following the top of the bowhead to the tip at the bottom, as well as around the semi-cylindrical wing which still remains. The condition of the brooch is fair, but has obvious signs of corrosion, and of course, is missing vitial components as well.
