Title
Roman hair pin
Description
English: A bent and incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman hair pin of the curved units between cordon head type (Cool 1990, 154; ref. Group 3). This belongs to her sub-group B as the finial-shaped knop head has cast cordons: two pairs above and below a cylindrical element. It has a long circular-sectioned shank which is at a right angle, having also been bent slightly below the head. It has been truncated before the tip. The pin is patinated a variable mid-green colour with some blemishes. The treatment of the head is very similar to an illustrated example (ibid., 153; ref. 5).
