Title
Roman steelyard weight
Description
English: A complete cast lead steelyard weight with iron attachments, probably dating to the Roman period, between AD 43 – 410 (length: 42.5mm; diameter: 21mm; weight: 58.19g).

The weight is conical in shape with a circular section. At the top of the artefact where the conical tip is uneven rounded, there is an iron loop protruding outwards (length of loop: 15mm; width of loop: 8mm; thickness of loop: 3mm). At the opposing base end of the conical weight, there is another corroded iron protrusion (the iron appears to continue through the centre of the weight), which may be the remains of a hook, from which the item being weighed would have hung. Overall, the artefact is in a worn and poor condition.
