Title
Roman to Modern Gaming Piece (Die)
Description
English: Possibly Roman, probably post Medieval, cast copper alloy die (plural: dice). It is 6-sided, with square faces; the opposing sides do not add up to 7, as is the established norm in modern dice, but add up to 9, 9 and 3. The dots have been roughly drilled into each surface.

It is very difficult to date such gaming pieces with accuracy as they have been used since Roman times up to the modern day. For this reason a broad date has been given to this item although it is most likely that it dates to the post-Medieval period, c.1600s onwards.
