Roman zoomorphic brooch
Description
English: A Roman copper alloy zoomorphic brooch in the form of a bird (duck) (2nd century). The body is shaped by three longitudinal facets, one along the back and one on each side. The beak and is defined by an incised line on each side and the crest is similarly defined. There is some carving on the tail to mark feathers. The catchplate is underneath the fore of the body and the perforated lug to the rear. There is iron corrosion around the lug suggesting an iron component. Dimensions: length: 41.05mm; width: 7.3mm; thickness: 4.25mm; weight: 5.8g.
