Title
Roman zoomorphic brooch
Description
English: Roman copper alloy zoomorphic brooch, 11.96 mm long, 7.32mm wide, 1.58mm thick. The object is in a fair condition and weighs 0.41 grms. It is a fragment of a plate brooch representing the central part of a hare. Starting from the right, the hare is missing its head, ear and fore leg; the first visible feature is the light green staining which clearly delineates the former location of three enamel cells; the first two are fairly complete, while the third one retains only a small section. The back-end and back leg of the hare are missing. The reverse is flat, without any visible trace of the semi circular lug or the catch plate.
