Description

Built 1916 for the Royal Flying Corps as ‘A1380’. Transferred to Norway in 1917 and numbered ‘59’ but placed in storage. Made airworthy in January 1919 and renumbered as ‘131’. It served until retired from service in November 1924. Now on display in a controlled environment as part of the Flysamlingen Forsvarets Museer (Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection). Oslo Gardermoen, Norway. 26th May 2019

The following information is from the museum website:-

“The Norwegian Armed Forces Air Collection B.E.2e, with British serial number A1380, was built off under contract by the company Wm. Denny & Bros. in Dumbarton in 1916. The plane arrived at Kjeller on September 5, 1917 and first reserved the Army's flying arm number 59, but was put into stock until further notice. When a new number sequence was awarded in September 1918, the aircraft was 131th.

The machine was tested on 22 January 1919 and delivered to the Sonfjellske flying department at Kjeller on 18 March of that year. No. 131 was scrapped on November 8, 1924 due to great wear and tear. The plane then had a total flying time of 110 hours and 59 minutes. In 1977 it was fully restored under the auspices of the Defence Museum”
