| Description |
English: This plaque is installed on the western entrance to Boston Common, bordering the Public Garden. It is a token of gratitude from the Royal Navy to the people of Boston, for their hospitality during World War 2.
Inscription: "Erected by THE ROYAL NAVY in gratitude to the people of Boston for hospitality and friendship to many thousands of British sailors from H.M. ships building and refitting during the Second World War 1945." |

According to the 20 Apr 1945 issue of The Boston Globe, article titled "FD, World War Dead Honored, Hero Cited on Patriots' Day" this plaque was gifted to the city of Boston on that day.
