Description

Die Burg wurde um 1250 von dem Gundelfinger Swigger IV oder vom späteren württenbergischen Landrichter Konrad II gebaut. Um 1300 wurde die Anlage erweitert und verstärkt. Dabei wurde der Turm niedergelegt und eine massive Schildmauer gebaut die Vorburg und Kernburg voneinander trennte. Im 16 Jhd wurde die Anlage noch einmal umgebaut und auch eine Ringmauer oder Zwingermauer errichte. 1545 geht die Burg in den Besitz von Wolf von Vellberg zu Vellberg über und wird seit dieser Zeit dem Verfall überlassen. 1973 übernimmt der Landkreis Reutlingen die Anlage und beginnt mit umfangreiche Sanierungs- und Bestandssicherungsmaßnahmen.

Die Burg liegt im Lautertal südlich von Münsingen und ist das ganze Jahr über frei zugänglich.
