English: Russia stampless folded letter to France. Unpaid category 1. 'St. PETERSBOURG 1856 III 31' lozenge shape cancel, manuscript '11' decimes rate, boxed 'Aus Russland' (T.P.O.) transit, red 'PRUSSE/3/VALENCIENNES 21 AVRIL 56', Paris and Paris to Bordeaux transits, arrival backstamp Bordeaux.

Under 7.5 grams - 1.10 fr.
7.5 to 15 grams - 1.40 fr
15 to 22.5 grams - 2.40 fr.
  • March 31 (Julian) 1856 unpaid letter posted at St. Petersburg. Sender wrote lower corner left 'Porto', this is not restated later by handstamp. '1856 - St. PETERSBOURG - III 31' postmark applied. In same handwriting '110' lower corner right backside, expressing the 110 decimes (1.10 fr.) rate.
Dobin: 1.02 type 3.07. Transit postmark, used 1854-1859, Rarity 4.[1]
  • Red 'Aus Russland' postmark applied. Used as a German entry/transit mark abroad the Coeln-Verviers T.P.O.
White: type CV5, 39x10mm.
  • April 21 (Gregorian). Red 'PRUSSE 3 VALENCIENNES 21 AVRIL 56' French entry mark, mail from Prussia (Prusse) entering France at the border town of Valenciennes. The small 3's show this mark was struck at Paris.
Noël: #1021[2]
  • Same day Paris transit backstamp. The under 7.5 grams was assessed, expressed as 11 decimes. 'PARIS (60) - 21 AVRIL 56' and manuscript '11' applied.
  • April 21. 'PARIS A BORDEAUX 10 D - 21 Avril 56' applied. Paris to Bordeaux T.P.O. transit backstamp, day train (octagonal center).
  • April 22. Bordeaux arrival backstamp. 'BORDEAUX (32) - 22 AVRIL 56' applied.
